♥ THE WALKING DEAD SERIES
CURRENT MOOD: Feeling like a zombie...
Unless you have been living under a rock... you will have heard about The Walking Dead series -- I'm talking about both the comic books written by Robert Kirkman as well as the adapted television series on AMC which I am completely addicted to watching... After the last season ended I physically read every single comic book so I would be caught up on the series... sadly I'm now at the point where I'm waiting for each new one to be released... and let me tell you... that is a bad place to be in!
The Walking Dead basically is a story chronicling the main character Rick Grimes, his family, and other survivors of a zombie apocalypse. The first comic book was released in 2003 but the show, an adaptation of the comic book series began to air in 2010 on AMC which clearly became a smash hit. I physically started watching the series last year when I found it on Netfilx Canada, now both season one and two are available to watch so you can get fully caught up without having to go buy the entire series on DVD or Blueray.
AMC has created multiple extentions of the series including the Talking Dead after show and special behind the scenes videos on their website. Also there are applications for viewers relating to the series including the Walking Dead Social Game on Facebook and the Walking Dead StorySYNC available on the Iphone and Ipad.
They have really brought the comic books to life in the hour long show every Sunday... with each new episode I am shocked with how realistic it comes across and how unbelievably gruesome the details and zombies are getting. The television series stays pretty true to the comic books minus the death of Sophia and Dale (so far) both of which came as a pretty big shock, I am interested to see how the coming season plays out but so far I have managed to miss three... of the four... episodes so hopefully I will catch up soon!
♥ Vintage Horror Movie Posters
I am totally in love with this set of six vintage horror movie posters
they look absolutely amazing! I had them all printed in 6 separate 11 x 7
sheets and I'm going to have them framed and with them create a wall
display just as it appears above! It's going to look fantastic!
♥ I Want a Pumpkin Farm
CURRENT MOOD: Day dreaming...
So if it isn't obvious by now I clearly like Halloween... but I also
want my own farm one day... and what shall I have on my farm you ask...?
Pumpkins... I want a pumpkin farm!
I love the color orange and pumpkins are a hearty crop that doesn't take
too much effort from what I have gathered... *dreams* Imagine looking
out over a field of orange pumpkins, what a great sight that would be! I
think I will experiment with growing a few next year and see how I like
it!
Stay tuned maybe in a few years I'll have my own pumpkin patch to blog about! Haha! =)
♥ HALLOWEEN WARS on the Food Network
CURRENT MOOD: Indescribable...
I found out about this show from a friend of mine only this year and I have no idea how I missed it!
Halloween Wars is a show on the Food Network where five teams made up of a pumpkin carver, cake decorator, and a candy maker battle it out to create spooky Halloween focused displays and the winning team gets a prize of 50,000 dollars to share. This season began on October 7th 2012 and I just watched the final episode the other day and let me tell you these people are so talented, the ideas they come up with are amazing!
I have been so impressed with the pumpkin carvers and the faces they have created each episode... I am not surprised that team "Dead Man Walking" won the competition in the end they always seemed to come out on top in one way or another.

♥ HALLOWEEN CLASSICS
Okay by now you all know I love
Halloween but I also love animated movies, in lieu of Halloween I wanted
to do a post about the Halloween movies from my childhood that always
help to get me into the HALLOWEEN SPIRIT! On a side note though...
I can't wait to see Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania!
I can't wait to see Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania!
THE HALLOWEENTOWN SERIES
- Halloweentown
- Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
- Hallloweentown High
- Return to Halloweentown
I literally have watched this series
every year since I was a kid... Basically the movies follow the Cromwell
children as they develop their powers with the help of their mother and
grandmother. I wont go into any more detail than that so I don't spoil
it for anyone, but it is for sure a family oriented movie!
I do have to say though I much preferred the original main character of Marnie Cromwell, played by Kimberly J. Brown as opposed to Sara Paxton in the final movie of the series. I hate when the main characters change! Sheesh!

- Beetlejuice
Okay... so I will always love the movie
Beetlejuice, it isn't necessarily a Halloween movie but it still has
many spooky aspects! It is creepier than the other movies so I would
probably stick to slightly older children. The premise of the film is that a couple of newly weds who are recently deceased contract the services of a
"bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their
home.
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
I love
Tim Burton's writing style, probably because it seems to always be on
the spooky side of things... but every movie he writes it becomes one
of my favorites and this one is no exception! I could have done an
entire post about Tim Burton but who would really want to read that!
Haha! The concept of the movie is that the main character Jack
Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but
doesn't quite understand what it is! It is a very spooky animated
movie! Seriously love it!
THE ADDAM'S FAMILY
- The Addams Family
So the
Addam's Family is a classic film from the 90's and while I'm sure
everyone knows them too by now the basic premise of this movie is that
con artists plan to fleece the eccentric family using an accomplice who
claims to be their long lost Uncle Fester. The family soon realizes
that the person is not actually the real Uncle Fester!
THE HARRY POTTER SERIES
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2
Classic right? A Halloween Spirit movie post mentioning Harry Potter... I
actually really did enjoy the Harry Potter series and while again it
isn't a Halloween based film it does deal with aspects of Halloween...
witches and wizards... by now I'm sure most people know what the film is
about so I won't go into it, but on the plus side it will keep you
entertained for HOURS!
- Twitches
- Twitches Two
This
one is a good family oriented Halloween movie series as well, it
focuses on two twin witches separated at birth who come back into each
others lives in the human world. Again this is a family movie with
nothing very scary involved, it is a pretty simple premise but a cute
movie all together.
♥ Neat Halloween Bottle Labels
I love the idea of decorating your wine or pop bottles with Halloween or
party themed labels, so while I was at Micheal's Crafts Supply store
today I came across these self adhesive ones. I know you can get cheaper
versions from dollar stores or you can even make them yourself for free
which I have done in the past.
These Martha Stewart ones I found just so happened to be on sale for five dollars for the pack, and I think they will look awesome on a wine bottle. When I made them my own Halloween Labels, I simply printed out the ones I liked which I found online, cut them out with scissors carefully, and used clear packing tape to stick them onto my drink bottles. Pretty simple process and the packing tape makes the paper labels water resistant which is a bonus! Maybe I will look into making some for my next round of free images, but until then these are a great option to try.
I love these ones they are well made and look very realistic in comparison to the cheap ones you find else where. Adults will be impressed, children on the other hand likely will not care one way or the other!

♥ HALLOWEEN AVATARS BY "~deleket" ON deviantART
I have had many people ask where I found my Halloween Avatar set that I use as my "CURRENT MOOD" at the top of my blog posts. ... I was scrolling on deviantART and came across them and found out they were free for personal use from the AMAZING artist Jojo Mendoza! (~deleket) I left the link so you can easily find the page but their direct website is www.deleket.com! There are 42 adorable Halloween avatars, the image below gives a great sample of what you can download at their main deviantART page!
♥ EEGE0XX Mini Laser Show System
So I bought the EEGE0XX - Mini Laser Show System, about two years ago and it is still going strong. It cost me about $100.00 from a local DJ lighting shop at the time but is an amazing addition to any party and the great part is it can fill up a GIANT room with dancing laser lights with no real effort! So neat!
It has a great feature that allows it to either run automatically with no real pattern to what it is producing *OR* it will go along with your music of choice; so if you have some fast music playing the light show will be fast and change quickly but if you have slow music playing it will be very slow and leisurely in the changes!
I've used it many times inside and even tried it outside at the farm - you can literally see it off in the distance dancing on the trees, another plus side is it reflects great off of snow, multipurpose! I had it going in the living room this evening and took a few pictures check them out below!
♥ PUMPKIN CANDLE - Bath & Body Works
My newest addiction right now is the amazing smelling "Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin" 3 - wick candle from Bath & Body Works... Oh my gosh does it ever smell fantastic! Honestly! I even got a matching dark metal pumpkin sleeve for it and I love how it looks! Sadly they are currently sold out of the candle or I would for sure go get more!
♥ HALLOWEEN HANDBOOK
I have an ever growing collection of Halloween books and magazines but one I LOVE this moment, that I actually ran out to the store and bought is the Martha Stewart Halloween Handbook! I believe it was printed previously but they released the "collectors edition" for 2012! I've tried so many ideas that are shared in this book at past parties I've planned so I really feel that you cannot go wrong with it!
In Canada it sells fairly inexpensively for what you get, it feels like a real soft cover book... not another magazine, so it is going to last you, there are 116 full color pages of great ideas, with no ad placements... that's right... NO ADS! Considering at least 90% of current magazines on the market today are filled with ads it is a great buy!
Seriously if Halloween is your thing, like it is mine... I'd for sure
pick it up... or at least go to the store and flip through it to get
some good ideas... Haha!
